https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=1029975847418379&set=g.350613145834181 This picture appeared in a Facebook group covering the railroads around Pottsville, PA. The only known information is that it sits near Panther Valley, and was moved there about thrity years ago by a man named Bruce Wesner. No mention of heritage or builder, and the body is absent from Lucas McKay's Non-Preserved Electric Car List. |

The car looks like a light interurban. Perhaps in the 1900-1906 era. I have no idea of it's heritage. Just guessing, it might have been from the most local line to the Pottsville area, Eastern Pennsylvania Railway, which was an amalgamation which lasted until 1931. I went paging through the LV NRHS book "Short Trolley Routes in the Lehigh River Valley" and found this builders photo of Tamaqua & Lansford car 24, an 1897 product of Brill. https://www.flickr.com/photos/internetarchivebookimages/14759191984/ The T&L would be reorganized in 1906 as the Eastern Pennsylvania Railways Company. Looks like a match to me, though the number still remains a mystery. |

Well, I happened to stumble across this thread just as I entered this carbody into my database! I was notified of this car via Frank Hicks, here's an excerpt from his email identifying the location of the car: "I think I figured out where it is. I'd say it's here (just plug into Google Maps): 40.627893,-76.221410 From the description it sounds like it's along Sheithauer Road just west of Cressona, PA and sure enough there's a streetcar-shaped building on the northeast side of the street." I think it's identity as as Lansford & Tamaqua Street Railway car may just be correct. I've updated the list to show that. Lucas |

I can't post on the newspaper's comment section because I'm not on facebook. If someone who is would please post information about having the owner contact a PA trolley museum to see about saving it, that might be a good thing. |
