Post subject:  Looking for EMD GP-9 Electrical Schematic

The Belton, Grandview and Kansas City Railroad is looking for an electrical schematic / diagram for our GP-9.

Our GP-9 is specifically an ex-C&O, then ex-B&O unit, 6142, then ex-Huron and Eastern 102.

It has electro-pneumatic control, Dynamic Brake and was built to Spec #103.2-10, if that helps.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Needless to say the generic (and non-dynamic brake) chart in the back of the GP&9 book helps, but is not correct.

Thank you!

Matthew- I might suggest giving VMV or whatever they are known as now, or some other rebuilder. I went to them with a similar request and they produced a wiring diagram for ex-N&W GP-9's. They seem to have a wide variety of them.
Good luck.

Probably not much help, but it looks like the wiring diagram from the factory would be EMD 8234924.

I have one SP GP9 schematic with DB, but it has magnetic switch gear and SEARCH.

About 15 years ago, I purchased a schematic from a parts distributor for EMD. I believe they were located in Louisiana, but I'm not sure. I had called La Grange and they directed me to their distributor. Maybe someone can fill in the blanks for me.

That was most likely RSI in Houma, Louisiana. They no longer exist.

The archives with prints from this era were put into document storage a couple years ago. If anybody at Progress Rail still has a copy it is pure luck at this point.

Does this locomotive have a cash register style control stand? or a barrel style?

Field loop Dynamics? or up graded with the more standard arrangement for dynamics?

We have a B&O print for the barrel control stand that matches our C&O GP9 very close. We have a B&O print for out B&O engine with a cash register stand that matches our C&O GP-9 good enough. We have nothing that shows how they modified the field loop dynamic brakes to the current configuration.

If you ever find any thing on the C&O stuff we would be interested to know more.
If you don't PM and I probably have enough B&O stuff to keep you moving for some time.
