Came across this 1982 "Pacific News" magazine with a nice article about the beginnings of Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad. http://magazine.trainlife.com/wp-conten ... 198205.pdf pages 6-11 New for me on pages 10 and 11 that it was planned to move Willamette Iron & Steel Works 3-truck Willamette class 70-3 cn13 build 1924 Crown Willamette Paper Co. #6 Crown Zellerbach Corp. #6 on park display in Cathlamet, WA since 1958 to Mount Rainier for future use. Any ideas why this never happens? They also plan to move (page 10) Baldwin Locomotive Works 2-8-2 class 12-30-1/4E,83 cn55347 build 1922 Manary Logging Co. #1 (Pacific Spruce Corp.) C.D. Johnson Lumber Co. #1 Georgia-Pacific Corp. #1 - on public display in Toledo, OR since 1960. That also never happened. |

The short answer is that Terry Furgeson's reach was longer than his grasp. Terry went out and tried to secure every locomotive that was available. It was great while it lasted. |
