Post subject:  Topics Restored

The controversial topics around K&T 14 that briefly disappeared have been restored to their former glory in the Interchange. They remain locked as per Randy Hees' original decision.

This will be my last act as a moderator (or administrator) of this site. I am requesting that my account be stripped of moderation and administration privileges. There are several reasons for this:

a. For a variety of reasons I no longer feel that I can adequately perform the duties incumbent upon a Site Admin, and I am spectacularly dubious about my skills as a moderator.

b. I no longer enjoy my responsibilities to this site. For a comprehensive discussion of this lack of enjoyment you may refer to a post entitled 'Rant' that I posted some years ago. I no longer believe that my approach to this site, and its moderation have any validity in the current day.

c. I believe that I will still enjoy using RyPN as an ordinary user/poster. Age and infirmity have sapped a portion of my energy (while not, apparently, impairing my intellect) and I prefer to expend my energies on my own website.

d. I believe that I have adequately fulfilled my responsibilties to Hume Kading, who despaired of RyPN's future and was contemplating shutting it down, about 13 years ago. David is a wonderful host for the site, now and I'm sure he will carry on nobly.

Have a truly great day. And thanks for all the fish.

The jobs of moderator of discussion and administration of a website are often thankless, but you have my thanks.

Thanks for all you've done for this website!

Time to crack open a few cold ones and enjoy the site as a non-mod/non-admin.

So who was originally responsible for deleting the threads? Not locking them, as you mentioned that was Randy Hees, but the entire deletion of multiple threads.

Doug - Thank you for all of your hard work. We all owe you a debt of gratitude. You've done so much for us all. I ask you to reconsider and maybe just take a break but respect whatever you decide.

Many thanks, Tom Gears

By implication, I believe Mr. Bailey admitted to deleting them, hence he restored them. Glad he did the right thing.

Thanks for all the work over the years, Doug. It was - even if you didn't hear it enough - all very much appreciated. - Rob

I was the "person" who deleted them, and after sober contemplation, restored them.

Doug,

Thanks for your stewardship of RYPN over the years. We will keep this train running as long as there is track to run on!

Take care.

I am a member of many organizations that mandate, in the by-laws, "fresh blood" on a regular basis (term limits on officers, etc.), under the premise that "officers, like diapers, should be changed regularly, and for the same reason."

Of course, for that, there has to be a board of directors and the like.

At least twice, I've been called down to a Board meeting, to find them all grinning at me, with me replying "So, what did you need from me--uh-oh, cr*p, you just elected/appointed me president, didn't you?!?"
