Lots of possibles here
(1) Terry Ross of NM was one of the driving forces for saving the Cumbres & Toltec...probably a few others in there as well(1968-70)
(2)Paulson Spence....When he died much of his stuff was scrapped, through no fault of his own.
However a few pieces of his collection survive.
(3)Jerry Jacobson and Tim Sposato of Ohio Central.
Since 1989 look at the steam they have restored, and operated. 1551, tank engine #?, #13, 1293, and 6325, not to mention some work on 2100. They are one of the principle steam centers in the US at the present time.
Probably more guys out there. This list could go on awhile!
