In my ad I neglected to mention that we need a generic HK Porter drawing for wood cab details, to be used in restoration of Coronet Phosphate #6. Of course I'll pay costs of duplication and mailing, etc... PLEASE, if you have such a drawing, help us now. It's just typical of my luck that somebody will produce such a drawing after we get Audrey all done, so they can point out everything we did wrong. WE ARE TRYING TO GET IT RIGHT.

Thanks in advance, Sammy

I have a bunch of Porter drawings. I was going to wait until after 6 was done to produce them, but you called me out!

I sent a message to Tommy about getting these drawings over to you guys for scanning. No cab drawings found yet though, but plenty of detail prints.

If you contact the archives department of the Canada Science and Technology Museum,
https://ingeniumcanada.org/scitech/library-and-archives, and provide either your builder number or the builder number of the class leader they can supply the original erection drawing and specification card for the locomotive. The specification card will give you exactly what drawing number was used for each part of the locomotive, this is required for locating drawings due to Porter's practice of reusing drawings (ie. the drawing might be for a locomotive built in 1895, but used on another built in 1920). All of the component drawings are located at the Library and Archives of Canada, https://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/Pages/home.aspx.

Sammy,
Did you ever get the drawing you were looking for? We're starting work on #5's cab soon and could also use a similar plan.

Herb,

I never got an official HK Porter wooden cab drawing. I have tried the usual sources, but no dice.

Santa Cruz Portland Cement #2 has a very similar cab, with lots of good photos on their website.

Let us know if you (RyPN readers that is) turn anything up, if you would, please.

Thanks in advance for any assistance which may be forthcoming,
Sammy & Audrey
