This locomotive (maybe?) is displayed in a small park at the intersection of New York State Route 107 and Jerusalem Avenue in Hicksville, NY. Some sources say that this is a "preserved 19th Century locomotive" (Wikimedia Commons) but I consider this quite dubioius. I suspect that it is a replica of some sort, but the Google Street View image isn't sufficiently detailed to make that determination. Does anyone know anything about it? Any information would be great.

Privately constructed replica (non-functional) of, I believe"John Bull", possible the LIRR's first locomotive "Ariel". It was constructed and donated by a skilled craftsman citizen to celebrate the anniversary of the LIRR. Now, let's get someone to do that with a full size NYC Hudson. |

The LIRR's first engine 'Ariel' was a Baldwin 4-2-0, which this one is clearly not. I think it has to be 'John Bull'. -Philip Marshall |

I believe the John Bull was considered to be a 4-2-0 after the pilot was attached to the front axle of the disconnected front drive wheels. Bernie Perch |
