There is a former SP lounge car with a barbershop in private ownership. The car (SP 2981) was built for service on the Overland Route and now carries the name "Overland Trail." There is a Facebook page for the car.

Until about two years ago, when Amtrak changed now it handled private cars, this car was based in Los Angeles and had an active business running special group trips both north and south. The car and its owners relocated to the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad.
