EMD often used complete diesel locomotive trucks with traction motors as a stand-alone display at trade shows, state fairs, and some of their open house events. The four-wheel and six wheel swing hanger trucks and the SD flexicoil and HTC truck were all displayed at various events. They also had an angled display stand to allow viewing the top and bottom of the truck. Are you aware of any museums having done similar stand-alone displays of diesel locomotive trucks with traction motors?

I'd like to say I've seen a setup like this at a trolley museum somewhere, but I can't put my finger on it... That being said, this seems like something like this type of a display could easily be put together using unserviceable components. Most of the stuff in that case would probably need cleaning and elbow grease, but at least you get a teaching tool out of them instead of something that otherwise is tossed out.

The Museum of Science and Technology, in Ottawa, Canada, had a spare FM "B" truck stored for display. It eventually was sold, I believe to DL. Why?
Anyway, it was a complete Fairbanks Morse two axle truck. It was not scrapped.

Richard,
They may be using this as a shop truck for supporting a locomotive while one of its normal trucks is being rebuilt. An industrial plant in New Jersey had four EMD swing hanger trucks without traction motors they used as shop trucks. I have also seen "B" trucks fitted with battery trays for use as spotting shunters in large shops.
