I am looking to obtain some detailed plans of narrow gauge (or standard gauge) wood Flat Cars of the 1900 era and some direction if anyone can give it to "Expert" on the subject who may have actually helped build and/or restore a narrow gauge flatcar.

I am beginning the process of preparing 3D CADD drawings of Class A T-Boiler Climax A-313 (1902) which was recently returned from Alaska to Corry, PA. I will be working with the Corry R.A.I.L.S. group to help reconstruct it and prepare drawings of each part.

I thought it would be helpful to have detailed plans of a 1900 era wood narrow gauge flat car (a Class A was just a heavily reinforced and modified flat car) and hopefully the advice and knowledge of someone who would be willing to assist me in fully understanding the whys and wherefores of the construction techniques as the drawings and the restoration progress. I have been advised that the Corry group knows where most of the 29 wood frame parts go but not all.

I have worked on drawings of another Climax SN 1551 at Cass, WV where I worked on the restoration and helped engineer and re-engineer some parts. The 3D CADD model of 1551 has about 10,400 parts to date. I have posted links to 3D CADD models of that locomotive and portions of it elsewhere on the Railway Preservation News.

Again, thank you in advance for any help you may be able to give.

This group has rebuilt at least two narrow gauge wood flats and has a large collection of original drawings. http://www.spcrr.org/
