Although Mark Knebel has been doing most of the repainting of equipment at HVRM these past few years, other members DO grab the paintbrush on occasion! Last year, the engineers side of the tender of C&O Kanawha # 2789 had been painted and lettered, but the fireman's side had not been touched. So, I decided to tackle the project last week after cleaning and priming a few bad spots on previous Saturdays. The first photo shows the work in the morning of the 70 degree day. Mark stopped by later and grabbed the second photo of me up on the lift with the project further along. Unfortunately, they had to put our GE diesel away to work on it so had to shove the 2-8-4 into the Shop. But by that time, I only had the bottom part of the tender to finish, which I did inside the building from the ground, but due to cramped quarters, I was not able to grab a photo. Yesterday, when they pulled the 1947-built Alco out of the Shop, I was able to get a shot of the finished product. I think not too shabby!

Looks not too shabby Les. No doubt the practice you got painting over the Thomas face on Audrey has prepared you well for painting the #2789. Keep up the good work, Take Care & WORK SAFE.

I remember crawling around in the dirt of the new shop extension where DS50 is today, painting the GE in the side of the picture posted above. Jason Annen helped as I shot the loco inside and out.

Fred -

Yes, the concrete floor IS a bit of an improvement! BTW, the GE still looks great. You did a fantastic paint job.
