Post subject:  Oregon: Santiam Excursion Trains to Add a Steam Locomotive

On July 7, 2021, Santiam Excursion Trains announced via email plans, beginning fall, 2021, to include a serviceable Baldwin 2-6-2 locomotive to power their tourist trains. Although not stated in the Santiam Excursion Trains press release, this locomotive is almost certainly Santa Maria Valley 205:

    • Santa Maria Valley 205, 2-6-2 (BLW 57613 / 1924)

To the best of my knowledge, this locomotive is privately owned and has, for many years, been under repair at Independence, Oregon.

With newbuild rectangular tender, the original vanderbilt is coupled to Charles R. McCormick Lumber #100 Baldwin 2-8-2 in Merrill, OR.
