1201 was built in the Minneapolis and St. Louis Railroad Marshalltown IA shop in 1947, and had been in a back yard only 10 miles from the current museum location for over 50 years. One of three known M&StL cabooses in existence, the museum says it is 97% complete. The owners had helpfully put sheet metal on the roof decades ago. GSRM is located adjacent to the former M&StL main line in New Prague, MN, and this caboose no doubt passed this location many times.
