Old DuPont paint numbers - resource lost

Post subject:  Old DuPont paint numbers - resource lost
I just learned that George Rust of DuPont Railroad Coatings passed away unexpectedly two weeks ago. George, out of personal interest and enthusiasm, maintained a sizable cross-reference of old DuPont Duco and Dulux paint numbers to modern paint systems (e.g., Imron) built up over years of consultation to museums, railroads and transit agencies attempting to recreate historical or heritage paint schemes. The Railroad Coatings calendars, published by The Weekend Chief in Hicksville, NY, often included samples of George's historical re-creations.

George had stayed on with DuPont two years past the time he could have retired. I am attempting to ascertain if the cross-reference data, which he had transferred to an Excel Spreadsheet by last September, survives him. If so, I will try to see to it that a version gets preserved.

I had conversations with George numerous times over the years, he was a joy to talk to. His knowledge will be missed.
