Under repair since 2009, it seems SMS Rail Lines 9 may have been steamed for the first time in 40 years. A post on the “Friends of SMS 9” Facebook page depicts smoke being emitted from the locomotive’s smokestack. In the early 1950s, this locomotive was in service at Fort Eustis, Virginia.

No, the 9 was expertly rebuilt and holds water at atmospheric pressure. |

SMS 9 holds water AND steam at 190 PSIG (and a tad above, setting the pops). |
