The latest special issue of the NRHS Bulletin features my 38-page biography and in-depth interview with retired Strasburg Rail Road President & CMO Linn Moedinger. Many never before seen photographs and outstanding imagery by master photographer Christopher Pollock make this an 'riveting' issue you won't want to miss! If you are not an NRHS member, back issues can be obtained for a nominal fee from the NRHS editor Jeff Smith through the NRHS website. K.R. Bell |

This sounds interesting. On another thread, someone mentioned that the quality of the Bulletin is lacking. I disagree, and this sounds like another good issue. |

I was thumbing through my copy last night Kurt, and you did a very complete and masterful job of telling more than anyone outside of family would ever want to know about Linn. Seriously, a very well-executed article with some really great photos. |

I read it last night, you did a great job! psa188 wrote: On another thread, someone mentioned that the quality of the Bulletin is lacking. I disagree, and this sounds like another good issue. The quality isn't lacking at all, but the quantity sure is. Time was, you'd get the bulletin and a lot of good info throughout the year. Now, getting anything other than the newsletter comes as s surprise.

My copy arrived today and is as good as the others say it is. But we knew that given Kurt wrote it and it's about Linn. For those who are not NRHS members, "Back issues are $8 per issue including shipping. Contact bulletin@nrhs.com for availability and payment instructions. " Phil Mulligan |

Anyone who likes trains here in southcentral PA considers Mr. Moedinger a local legend. Raises a nice beard, too. LOL |

My purchased copy arrived yesterday. A great story by Kurt Bell. The nominal cost of the magazine is worth it! Wesley |

A polite, and jocular, reprisal of what some have said was one of this forum's "greatest hits", from 2005: www.rypn.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12305 |

Sandy, that was a classic then and is still a classic. As to Dining Cars, back when the SRC conductors made the speech verbally in each car, one of the lines was "The Dining Car is back, waaaay back, somewhere around Paoli." Now SRC has a Dining Car and Amtrak's Pennsylvanian doesn't. An Amcafe is not a Dining Car Phil Mulligan |

Thank you all for your kind comments. I owe a debt of gratitude to the photography talents of Christopher Pollock, some superb quotes from past and present SRC staff as well as Mssrs. Conrad and Lee, and of course, to Linn himself who never ceases to amaze and inspire. Mr. Mulligan, the correct quote as said by the late SRC conductor Donald E.L. Hallock, was: "The dining car is forward, WAYYYYYY FORWARD, down around Paoli somewhere … " K.R. Bell |

Well, at least I got the Paoli part right. It WAS backwards from Strasburg to Leaman Place: the Conductor gave three tugs on the signal cord (remember them?) in that direction. When you got to Leaman Place, Paoli was forward. I think most of us adapted the Strasburg talk to our own lines. I'd say the Strasburg taught the rest of us how to run a tourist RR. Some learned better than others. Phil Mulligan |
