The subject of haulage ratings and drawbar pull came up on the recent thread on the PRR T1 engine. Rather than add to that thread, I will try to show these scans -- I hope they work! There is some interesting data. This comes from a Canadian National Railways London & Stratford Division employees time table no. 25, dated June 24th, 1928. Note that CNR gives haulage ratings as percents -- 50 percent equals 50,000 pounds. There are three significant helper grades -- westbound between Hamilton and Copetown, westbound (actually south) between Niagara Falls and Merritton, and between Merritton and Thorold. In all cases that is climbing the Niagara Escarpment. I'll try to find the grade percentages later.
