Just wondering if anyone here had any current information on the progress of the move of B&LE 2-10-4 #643 to the Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum. There have not been any updates about #643 on their website since February of 2020, at which time the tender had been moved, but the separated boiler and running gear were still in PA.

As a Pittsburgh area resident I can say the remains are still there waiting for transport or the next coming winter crap weather to come down on it - which either gets funding or local moving permission first.
In all seriousness if the boiler or frame had traveled via truck in the last year all of Pittsburgh would get the alert due our news looking for anything to report on.

From what I understand the lack of progress was due to COVID regulations in the Pittsburgh area preventing the larger parts from being moved. Along with difficulties in the weight and clearances on the streets when it eventually gets shipped out.

I’m pretty anxious for it to finally get to Sugarcreek and for it to be truly safe undercover. The frame boiler and cab are still out without much protection in McKees Rocks as far as I know.

Thank you for the info. I figured there were COVID-related delays.

Just to confirm it, here’s a couple of Facebook posts directly from them if anyone wants to hear it from someone better than me.

Well I haven't been on in a very long time. But I finally made the drive to Age of Steam Roundhouse and did the 3 hour tour. What a setup! Anyway, they did give a hint on the boiler and chassis. Looks like it will be moved by rail to them. No time yet but due to the weight they have no choice. They mentioned a bridge would need to be shutdown to go over. I'm hoping they will post a schedule so someone can get photos.
