Broadway Pizza, a restaurant in Minneapolis, is seeking to dispose of a Soo Line caboose it has had on display next to its parking lot for many years. The wood caboose is in good condition, and the restaurant owner is willing to give it away - but a group that accepts it would have to pay for moving it.

The Soo caboose is No. 99111 and was built in 1911. As built, the car had vertical wood “car” siding and during the 1970’s plywood sheeting was applied inside and out at the car shops in Stevens Point, Wis. The windows in the cupola were blanked out about a year later.

Later assignments for the “Broadway Pizza” caboose #99111 were as follows: July 1, 1971 in Schiller Park, IL, in the Stevens Point, WI shop on July 15, 1971, and then transfer service in Superior, WI on April 1, 1973. It was officially retired during the summer of 1974.

Eddie Peck purchased the caboose for display at his new Broadway Pizza location in 1975 at 2025 West River Road in Minneapolis.

Anyone interested in the caboose can contact Doug Hodgdon, 4120 Yosemite Ave., St. Louis Park, MN 55416-3123

Thanks, hopefully it can be saved!

Google Streetview dated July 2021
Looks like it is in a location where it could be pulled up onto a trailer, but you would have to provide temporary traffic control.
