To fill the gaps of this obtuse post that will become irrelevant when the link dies: Original NYC S-1 Motor 100 and the Last T-3a motor 278, if as goes planned, are to be moved from Beacon Island where they have sat for years to the Danbury Railway Museum within a few months. The site they are sitting on is to become a manufacturing facility for wind turbines. Originally acquired by Mohawk and Hudson Chapter of the National Historic Railway Society, they had several homes. Earlier the Berkshire Scenic Railway assumed ownership in efforts to save them from their current predicament. There is also an ex NYC RS-3 and a GE U-25B on the property. Five passenger cars were mentioned. Several boxcars may be located with the equipment as well. |

Well, at least it sounds like there is some sort of future for these units. For years, the common belief has been that they were most certainly going to be scrapped where they sat and that was all there was to it. Is it me or does it seem like all the lost causes or problem children that have been the source of much wringing of hands over the years have been handled recently? Also of note at that same location are 2 ex-D&RGW, ex-D&H lightweight Pullman-Standard 1950 diners with very unusual center kitchens. These ran on the Prospector while in Rio Grande service. |

It has been alleged elsewhere online that these two diners are privately owned by a completely different entity, and that it is possible that progress is being made concurrent to the "rescue" of the NYC electrics that could give the diners a "chance to escape." |
