Post subject:  IRM receives restored Villa Real on its interchange

January 29, 2022, 17:02 at Union, Illinois, the Villa Real was interchanged with the UPRR and switched into the museum's campus. The arrival culminates the year long preparation of the car for movement to IRM. Much of that time has involved in the completion of the required FRA paperwork.
This is IRM's third rail shipment of historic equipment in the last 3 pandemic years. The first was the Pawnee, then came the EX-CNW E8 515, and now the Villa Real. The museum again would like to thank Mr. Al Sauer for his beautiful restoration and donation of the 10-3.
This operable piece of equipment was built in 1911 as a 12-1-1 named the Lenover and later converted to a 10-3 and renamed Villa Real. Please consider a donation to the Vila Real and a membership to IRM.
If you enjoy the old style Pullman era please visit Irm this year. Yes, bring your walking shoes for there is plenty to see and you will love the exercise in the fresh Illinois country air. Thank you Roger

We are excited to announce that 1911 Pullman car "Villa Real" arrived at the museum last evening and was moved back to the property by one of our electric locomotives. This fully restored heavyweight sleeping car is a beautiful and significant addition to our collection. Read more about the donation of the "Villa Real" and see photos of its stunning interior at www.irm.org/in-the-news/villa-real-donated
