The Winter Spectacular is a longtime East Broad Top tradition, allowing visitors the opportunity to watch the railroad come to life in an otherwise quiet season. On February 18th and 19th, the second Winter Spectacular was hosted by the EBT Foundation. This year featured rides on the M-1 and M-3, Master Mechanic’s tours of the roundhouse including the restoration of locomotive #16, General Manager’s tours of the Orbisonia station, rides at the Rockhill Trolley Museum on a wide variety of equipment, an evening photo session with locomotive #12, and fundraiser dinner to support the EBT Archives, with 16mm movies from the 1930s through the 1960s afterwards. Pleasant weather was quickly interrupted mid-day by a fast-moving snow squall, adding a light coating of snow to make it a most memorable winter event. Thank you to the Foundation, Friends of the East Broad Top, Rockhill Trolley Museum, and patrons for making this annual celebration a huge success.
