Post subject:  ALCO-GE Plate ID

While cleaning out the attic at the depot, we came across an ALCO-GE builder’s plate with a serial number of 75370, August, 1947. Can anyone with a list tell us what loco this came from?

Thanks.

This site says it came from a Nickel Plate Road S2, road number 42.

Nickel Plate Road Diesel Locomotives by Kevin J. Holland, TLC Publishing, confirms Mr. Lybrand's post. It apparently made it to the N&W merger in 1964, but was not renumbered or re-lettered into N&W before being retired.

Thanks for the leads. From NKP #42… Apparently renumbered to N&W #2042. it appears it went to AC&Y as their #108 in 1967 and scrapped in 1969. Looking up to verify….

An ALCO plate from the Nickel Plate might be gold plated, considering its heritage.
