My son and I were through there in June of 2009. We rode the train and then hiked the entire line. Nice bunch of folks at the shop. I couldn't forget the remark that one of them made about the 2-8-0 being a bit slippery so I checked the builders stats and the factor of adhesion was comfortably over 4. Something was not right there. BTW, their locomotive has to be one of the smaller extant machines with Baker motion. It came from the 30" Mexicano line. One of four, I believe. The engine should have been running that day, but was down for a repair of a crack that had developed on one of the injectors. Nice place too, we spent the night in one of the historic buildings after enjoying dinner. |
