Does anyone know what happened to the 801? She went to Georgia Northern as their 801, carried the boiler tube pilot until it went to the Southern. Went to the Southern and carried the number 13 and then 1015, and lost the pilot at some point. Then sold to U.S. Pipe in North Birmingham, kept the 1015 number on the head light but no cab number. AND gained the boiler tube pilot once again. She was on site when I worked at Jefferson Warrior in 2008-2009 and as far as I know stayed there until the North Birmingham pipe plant was razed. From there I have lost track. I did not see her around Bessemer, AL when I went looking but the ALCo has been moved from that plant too. Any ideas? Would like to see it saved. |

Uh... Boiler tube pilot? On a diesel? From EMD? I'm assuming there's a story there. |

Came from EMD that way. GA Northern: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPi ... id=5343484 It came off between GA Northern and the end of its Southern career: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPi ... id=3946542 US Pipe put one back on it. I wish I had taken a picture of it but being an employee on US Pipe property that would have been frowned on. |
