In Sachsen, Deutschland, Preßnitztalbahn (Pressnitz Valley Railway), 750 millimeter gauge, operates most weekends between the small communities of Jöhstadt and Steinbach, Sachsen (Saxony) a distance of 9 kilometers. On October 1 - 3, 2022, Preßnitztalbahn will host "Volldampf im Herbst" (Full Steam in Autumn), an event which will feature nine (9) trains operating between Jöhstadt and Steinbach each way each day. The Preßnitztalbahn shops are located in Jöhstadt. In Steinbach, an iconic brick water tower is used on each trip. Locomotives operate chimney-first (smokebox-first) southbound from Steinbach to Jöhstadt, bunker-first northbound from Jöhstadt to Steinbach. The attached Preßnitztalbahn images were recorded by me on October 24, 2021. 22 years ago, I attended "Steinbach Zweitausand", as the Pressnitztalbahn was being rebuilt. Everything looked brand new, like a hobby shop display case. Now, everything looks suitably aged, that Reichsbahn feeling, JA. Don't miss it if you can possibly help it. Prost.... |

Looks like the engines are 0-4-4-0T's and 0-6-0T's, but couldn't tell for sure from the photos. Les |

Les, I was getting ready to edit my post here because this line is home to a concentration of IVK Meyer type compound locomotives. These are indeed 0-4-4-0 sidetank locomotives. When they have a big hootenany there, they also host a smorgasbord of different 30" gauge types. |
