Western Pacific 165 is a 0-6-0 steam locomotive which was built for the United Verde Copper Company in Jerome, Arizona as UVCC 87 by Alco-Schenectady in November of 1919. However, on September 17th, 1927, UVCC 87 and two other sister engines (along with a nearly identical 0-6-0 from neighboring Verde Tunnel & Smelter Co.) were sold to the Western Pacific RR, becoming the WP S-34 class. (as well as being renumbered 164-166, with the VT&S 3 becoming 163). Sister steamer WP 164 (UVCC 86) is on display at a park in Oroville, California. 163 and 166 were retired in 1952-53 and scrapped. |
