As many of you know, Jim wrote over 45 books, many associated with railroads. He was also a prolific photographer. In 1996 he published a book called “Fairbanks Morse Locomotives”.

We at the Southern California Railway museum, are refurbishing FM H12-44, Santa Fe SF560. During the restoration we have collected all the data we find on the locomotive and have now located a photo of our locomotive in Jim’s book.

I’m trying to locate who, if anyone, has a copyright on Jim’s photos. He passed away in 2010. We won’t publish the photo for any financial gain but would like to use it in our progress reports and history files.

The picture of interest is the top picture on page 123. It shows the locomotive as MPI 100, working in a scrap yard in Anthony TX.

If anyone is familiar with Jim’s photo collection, and who now has it, I’m very interested in knowing who that is.

I believe Mike Shafer, the retiring editor of Passenger Train Journal has Jim's photo collection.

I heard that Kevin EuDaly of White River Productions purchased Jim Boyd's photo collection.
