For a limited time, you can read 'Steam from Scratch - Building New British Steam Locomotives Today' on Heritage Railway Magazine's website. This 132-page 2016 "bppkazine" (now out of print) looks at all the major U.K. projects and many of the smaller ones, and looks at what groups are planning for the future, from long-ago replicas of the first locomotives built to narrow-gauge locos to the major projects such as the well-known A1 Tornado 4-6-2:

Thanks for posting the link. The number of projects is truly astounding.

Some of those featured projects have not progressed very far since that magazine was originally published, or, in the case of the Patriot, have encountered considerable difficulties.
The "two" B17 projects are now just one and that seems to be progressing well, whilst the Prince George project seems to have slipped into the background. The GCR 567 4-4-0 project was progressing until Covid arrived, followed shortly afterwards with the major problems at Ruddington on the GCR (North) - the build location - which basically shut down the workshops there until a couple of months ago. Going to be 3 years of work "lost" out of that project by the time anything starts happening again....
