Oddly enough, Guinness has produced several volumes of what would better be called "fact books" under several titles back in the 1970s and 1980s, under the editorship of John Marshall. Do a search on your favorite Internet book site (such as www.alibris.com--no endorsement, mind you, just an example) for "The Guinness Book of Rail Facts and Feats", "Guinness Rail--The Records", and other such titles. The annual Guinness Book of World Records (which went from scholarly to pop-and-glitz many years ago) still has (I hope!) a section on railroad records updated as necessary. Thankfully, records are still being set in railroading! lner4472@bcpl.net |
