Post subject:  ASR Legends of Steam - Gary Bensman

Few men have restored as many steam locomotives in the preservation era than our next Legends of Steam speaker, Gary Bensman. Join us in January here in Cleveland to hear Gary's tales of his top steam restoration projects from the last 40 years. You will also get to inspect our recent progress on the 2100 prior to the dinner event. Thank you to all the RYPN'ers who have been faithful supporters of our work these past few years. We're getting ever closer and buying a couple of tickets to this event will further help fund our progress. The firebox work is done and now we are on to the tubes, flues and superheaters!

We look forward to seeing everyone in January in Cleveland!

Sincerely,

Rob Gardner
ASR President and 2100 Project Manager

Please allow me to second Rob's invitation to you to join us in Cleveland to enjoy Gary's sharing with us some of his 5 decades of being one of the handful of skilled specialists that have enabled steam to continue to live on America's mainlines long after it was common place.

I can also testify to the very high quality of work being done on the 2100 and I am confident that she will be a reliable runner when returned to service.

Also, may I suggest that if your finances allow you to do so you buy a ticket even if you can't attend and allow the 2100 folks to award it to a 2100 volunteer who has worked hard on the engine but can't afford a ticket.

I'm looking forward to a great night spent with a roundhouse full of fellow steam lovers.

Thanks, Ross Rowland
