I believe the Illinois Railway Museum has taken home this havyweight baggage car. It is from the A,C & F in 1927 rides on six-wheel trucks

It is a long time since it was on the C,B & Q Railroad. anybody know about its

recent history?

No clue. Looked in several places (list of extant equipment on the BRHS website, CB&Q mail list on GroupsIO, the passenger car dept. blog at IRM, even a general Google search), with zilch results.

Glick's excellent CB&Q roster book shows that it went to MofW service on 03/08/67 at Omaha as #240045. Will take some time to manually check the BN MofW roster sheets to find if it made it that far, and if so when it was sold off.

This may explain its arrival at IRM.

I presume that the article using the MOW number and IRM is using the CB&Q number? I think this has been discussed on rypn. Bob

And that fills in the rest, should've realized that the CB&Q MofW #240045 listed by Glick had an error, was actually #250045. To BN #976184 in August 1980, but no retirement date is listed in the BN MofW sheets.

The above article also mentions 2 Pullmans that had been part of the FEVR collection, now also sold off by NRM. Will need to cross-post that to the Pullman thread here.
