Post subject:  Train's importance to Durango

Good news piece from Flimsies showing how Durangoans feel about the train, said to bring $24 million into the local economy each year. Some different from the late-'60s when the head of the Chamber of Commerce said you couldn't pay him to take that dirty trip!

Or the comments by a Rio Grande official in the early 1960's to a Wall Street Journal reporter "we have a tiger by the tail and don't know what to do with it".

One wonders why they don't convert some of the engines to oil to lessen the fire danger issues that exist with coal.
