Seen on Railfan & Railroad Magazine's website: Delaware & Ulster Railroad will be mechanically parting out their GE 44-tonner, Western Maryland #76, to revive New Haven #0814, Middletown & New Jersey #2 and Hoboken Manufacturers Railroad #700, owned by Danbury Railroad Museum, Operation Toy Train and Tri-State Railway Historical Society, respectively. Parts will also be set aside as spares for Danbury's other 44-tonner. After the parts are harvested from WM #76, it will then be cosmetically restored as an NYO&W 44-tonner and put on display at display at the Port Jervis Transportation History Center. Awesome, glad to see all of them, even the donor, will be used and not left on the deadline. |

What happened to the other Hoboken Manufacturers' - Hoboken Shore 44 ton Diesel 701, later owned by Sam Freeman as Adirondak RR 107 and then stored on the New Hope & Ivyland RR in New Hope, Pennsylvania? |

The 701 was unfortunately cut up for scrap sometime during the 1990’s after sitting unused around the New Hope yard for several years prior. |

Might there be an opportunity to expand the trade? The Southeastern Railway Museum in Duluth, Georgia has NYO&W 104, restored to its as-delivered maroon paint scheme with silver stripes in 2001. This website has before and after photos of the restoration: http://www.nyow.org/nyow104.html Over the years the paint has faded to a chalky purple, as seen here: http://www.rgusrail.com/album/gaserm/ow_104_07.jpg via this excellent website: http://www.rgusrail.com/gaserm.html Is the someone or some organization in Maryland that might want to have a WM 44-ton locomotive that could offer something of value to the Southeastern Railway Museum that would allow NYO&W 104 to return home? |
