I leave it up to others to determine whether this falls under "rumor-mongering" or will be confirmed soon:

Facebook post alleging to have a copy of the "eviction notice" to the New Jersey Museum of Transportation from Allaire State Park:

Well, certain volunteers have been at the railroad working in the last few weekends (from posts I've seen on Facebook), so maybe this has been resolved?

For what it's worth, it looks like some problems may have been around for years. Certainly there was earlier discussion on this here.

A supposed member of the NJMT (well, I can't check his credentials online, but I have no reason to not believe him) has posted at the original FB thread:

Quote:
I would like to clarify something for everyone. The Pine Creek Railroad is NOT shutting down. The issue in the paperwork that has been posted, has been resolved months ago. It was a simple issue regarding certain documents going to the incorrect person in the state. The reason there is no written "correspondence" is because the issue was simply resolved by phone. I hope this clarifies things for everyone.

Hello Everyone

Active Pine Creek member of 5 years here.

The Pine Creek Railroad is NOT shutting down. The issue outlined in this paperwork was resolved two months ago, almost as soon as that letter was received. The original poster on Facebook's evidence for this document still being current was the fact that there was "No correspondence" HOWEVER, there was no written correspondence because the issue was simply resolved over the phone.

I would have responded to the original post on Facebook however, the individual who posted it has me blocked. I urge that this false information should not be spread any further.

I hope this clarifies things.

Thank you,
Kyle R.

Latest OPRA data came through yesterday morning. Makes for an interesting story:

December 14, 2021
Email sent from the NJDEP to NJMT requesting data as required under the lease. Tax returns, annual reports, work plan, etc. Missing data goes back to 2018.

July 1, 2022
Notice of Material Breach and Pending Suspension sent to NJMT by the NJDEP. NJDEP asking for the data that was asked for in the December 14, 2021 email.

August 18, 2022
NJMT submits incomplete data to the NJDEP.

September 23, 2022
2nd Notice of Material Breach and Pending Suspension sent by the NJDEP to NJMT requesting the data missing from the NJMT August 18th submission in response to the 14 December 2021 NJDEP request. Data submitted by NJMT was deemed incomplete.

November 17, 2022
Notice of material Breach and Suspension issued by the NJDEP to NJMT. This letter ordered NJMT to suspend all entry on to the leased premises and to cease all operations until all documents requested by NJDEP are submitted by NJMT.

January 25, 2023
NJDEP email to NJMT indicating that nothing has been received in response to the November 17, 2022 NJDEP letter.

February 1, 2023
NJDEP email to NJMT asking again for the data requested in the previous letters and emails.

February 6, 2023
Missing data requested by the NJDEP finally provided to the NJDEP by NJMT. Have to ask, why did it take so long for NJMT to provide data as called for in the hold over lease?

Happy to provide the original documents for anyone with an interest. Answers a lot of questions. Provides the financial data needed by the NJDEP to determine NJMT financial viability. Looks like someone's fat donation ($32K) and a line of credit in has kept the doors open.

Only have five trustees at this point - used to be somewhere between 9 and 12 at one point or another. Really need some new blood on the board if they are to survive and work out a new agreement with the NJDEP. They really hurt themselves fighting this release of lease required information. The lease expired 10 years ago this year so they are in a hold over lease situation for quite some time now. I have copies of the lease if anyone wants a copy.
