VINTAGE CABOOSES WILL ARRIVE TO SPRINGDALE MUSEUM

Springdale, Arkansas - The J. Reilly McCarren Transportation Museum, located adjacent to the Arkansas & Missouri Railroad Excursion Depot, is pleased to announce the acquisition of two former St. Louis and San Francisco Railroad (FRISCO) cabooses. Paul Slaven, a Tulsa businessman, restored Caboose #1291, is donating them. Paul said, "Growing up I loved waving at the people the caboose and always wanted to ride
them."

The Transportation Museum will restore the second Caboose #1288. Both cabooses were built in 1969 and ran on the former St. Louis and San Francisco Railroad (FRISCO), which is now owned by the Arkansas & Missouri Railroad. Caren Kraska, President of the Arkansas & Missouri Railroad said, "The A&M Railroad is honored to be able to help the museum preserve this piece of transportation history."

Both cabooses will be trucked from Tulsa Wednesday April 19th to the Arkansas & Missouri Railroad locomotive shop where they will be offloaded and inspected by the mechanical department.
