All,

We are less than 2 weeks away from our third Legends of Steam event featuring Gary Bensman. Gary has been a leading expert in the world of steam locomotive restorations and operations for roughly 40 years now working on such notable steam locomotives as the NKP 765, SP 786, Grand Canyon 4960 and 29, Soo Line 2719 and 1003 as well as C&O 614 and B&LE 643. You won't want to miss this special evening on April 29th here in Cleveland, OH. There are just a few tickets left so buy your tickets now. We will start with a Q&A session at the West 3rd Street roundhouse before making our way up the Holiday Inn in Independence, OH for wonderful catered dinner followed by Gary's slide presentation which will now include C&O 614 and B&LE 643!

Sincerely,

...........and the puzzle like restoration of C&O #1309, ramrodded or supervised much of the work on the Polsen #2, especially the boiler. It would be a long list of successful accomplishments. Well done Gary. Regards, John.

I'm looking forward to seeing Gary's presentation as he has certainly been involved in a major way in the restoration of mainline steam for decades.

The event also helps support a very worthwhile project and I would encourage any steam lovers who can to buy a ticket and help make it a SRO event.

I look forward to seeing some of you there.

Best regards, Ross Rowland

I am pleased to report that Gary's presentation was VERY well done and well received by the SRO crowd last night. Gary walked us through the many, many steps involved in restoring a mainline steam locomotive to service. I learned a LOT that I never knew and in a certain way I'm glad I didn't as it might well have scared me off ??

Rob Gardner and Forrest Nace brought us up to speed on the huge forward progress the ASR team has made on the 2100. He reported that they're within about ( operative word= about) 15 months and $ 200k from having her back under steam. Please consider making a donation if you're able.

Also, thanks to the generous support of Wes Camp I was pleased to announce that I have sold the T-1 booster I saved from scrap to the 2100 group for $ 5k and that it will soon be on its way to Cleveland to be mounted back under the 2100 from whence it came !!! Thanks also to Paul Nichini ( CEO New Hope RR ) for letting me store it, rent free in New Hope since 1987.

All in all a great evening and it was nice visiting with the many RyPN ers that were there.

Ross Rowland
