Baltimore Streetcar Museum is happy to share the news that our long-term restoration of former Public Service Coordinated Transport Car #26 from Newark, NJ took a major step forward with the car’s return to our museum this past Wednesday. The project team estimates final completion and start of public operation by November 2024, which coincides with the car’s 75th birthday and also marks 10 years since the car arrived in Baltimore.
With the main carbody work completed, our crew now focuses on final tasks such as completion of the remaining wiring and controls work, truck swap (the shop trucks currently under the car will be replaced with a set of trucks which have received heavy maintenance work and other improvements), interior assembly, and the myriad of details that are part of any massive vehicle restoration project.
Upon completion, Car #26 will be used with a platform-based wheelchair lift to provide all guests the opportunity to experience a ride on a vintage streetcar.
We sincerely thank all of our donors and supporters who make this possible. Stay tuned for further updates via Baltimore Streetcar Museum’s social media channels and press releases as this project comes to an exciting conclusion.
Sincerely,
Matt Nawn Director of Development Baltimore Streetcar Museum, Inc.
