Buried in the news of the Lehigh & New England business car rescue:

Quote:
Anyone with interest in the Windber, PA rolling stock accumulation should know that the previous owner sold the entire facility to a scrap dealer in early 2023. When I last visited there about 5 years ago the business car was indoors. But I've heard that there was a lot of break-ins and vandalism in recent years, so beware.

This is, of course, the notorious collection of PCCs gathered in a remote location, made popular by trespassing "urban explorer" videomakers who hyped the "abandoned", "haunted" collection in online videos that quickly went viral and instigated yet more trespassing and vandalism.

I just checked in with one of the principal "horse traders" in the very productive and fruitful Northeastern trolley/streetcar museum scene. He said he "understands" museums will be able to buy parts from the scrapper--but that "I'm not sure any of it is any good anymore." Those with an interest are advised to check in with Bill Pullman. (No, I'm no posting contact info. If you have any business contacting him, you know where to get a hold of him or can find someone who does.)

The cars inside the building are worth seeing preserved!

60 or so photos of the "status quo" from fellow RyPN'er Joel Solomon:

An organized collection of PCC parts would be useful. Rockhill, for example, could use a replacement footbrake pedal.
