There is a Station Platform Roof that is slated for demolition in the future; the steel supports(I don't know the correct name) are in relatively good condition and could be re-purposed to another Platform. The wood roof is in poor condition. There is another on the opposite side that is going to be upgraded. They will probably be scrapped otherwise; they could be easily loaded onto a car and transported. Thanks for looking Paul |

Where are these, and are photos available? We may have a project in Connecticut that may be able to utilize these platform canopy supports (in 2024). Howard P. |

I was surprised to find this is my hometown, although I haven't lived there for 15 years. The Ligonier Valley Railroad Museum ought to know about this. The south platform, which is the one in poorer condition and ostensibly not part of the Amtrak station rehab project, is where the Ligonier Valley interchanged with the PRR. Can someone point to an explicit statement that the south canopy is going to be removed? I haven't seen any such statement, either in those older articles linked above or in any of several more recent articles (2023) I found. I'd imagine demolition of the south platform is outside the scope of the Amtrak project, as it's not accessible to the public and doesn't materially impact the operation of the station (except for being an eyesore). |
