Back in about 1975 a two buddies and I took my then new 1975 Chev PU on a road trip to Winnipeg to hunt steam parts or any old RR parts. I had grown up hearing all these tales of equipment laying around "up north in UP of Mi, Mn and Canada". I acquired legally some steam parts from the nice folks at LST&T in Superior, Wi. Years later I tried to research the RR some and found they had a decent collection of 0-8-0 steam engines and had deisilized early in comparison to many northern RR in the area. I found a roster of engine numbers and maybe build dates? But no pics. I have found two or three pics of a couple 0-8-0s with higher numbers than I remember and one of #10. Thought the numbers were in the basic range of #1-#10. Bought 3 steam gauges, two were paint marked #8 and maybe #10 which kind of coincided with the loco numbers I had found online. So the million dollar question is: is there an online site that has pictures of the LST&T steam engines? Found a couple of great pictorial sites but only one pic of a steam locomotive. Any help? Mid Continent RR museum ended up with their Jordan Spreader #55 and two LST&T cabooses. One was beautifully restored by the private owner and think the bay window was scrapped. They were in pretty rough shape when they arrived on the property probably back in the 1970s?

Thought maybe Lake States might be a start but have not yet contacted them to see. Any ideas are appreciated, Thanks in advance.

Thank you HudsonL. Interesting reading the expenditures. Almost 100 yrs later I was buying the same Duff Norton jacks, rivet guns and assorted shop tools. Guess the locomotive roster went higher than I originally thought it might. Remember thinking they had a lot of 0-8-0s but they were older and probably not the behemoth 0-8-0s most roads had by the 1920-1930s. The picture I did find of the #10 confirmed that. Looked like a Baldwin from about 1910 or earlier? Just guessing on all this. Thanks again, John.

addendum: Found pics of the #9 and #10 in Stan Mailers great book, "The Omaha Road". It stated a comment about the Great Northerns influence in one of the pictures. I had thought maybe the older/smaller 0-8-0s might of been Northern Pacific heritage?
