I saw this photo on Facebook tonight. I know nothing about it. The poster says it is in or near Tallahassee Florida.

What is it? Where is it? AND....why is it sitting outside??

IF this is an early loco as it appears to be, it needs to be preserved in a museum protected, somewhere.

?????

If I'm recalling right, this one is in front of a govt office building....Agriculture maybe?

I think the basic story was that it was working for a logging operation, ended up getting away while they were trying to load it on a barge up on the Suwannee rver?
It went into the water, was found in the 70's or 80's and salvaged..had some preservation work done and put there on display....
I suspect the state likes it where it's at...and attempts to get it from them will be ignored, etc...

It's within walking distance to the prison on the east side of Captiol Circle. Though you can easily step over the fence, it's technically behind a card reader to get onto the grounds. That said, it's easily seen from the road going past the entrance.
It was pulled out of the river in the 70s, and sat in front of the trailer of one of the guys who recovered it. As I understood in the 80s when it was bought by the state, it was supposed to be part of a logging museum that never came to pass.
Very little has been done to it since then. It's the only steam locomotive in that entire area.
