This locomotive

http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/serial ... 0&mfg=Alco

Alco RS-1 sn77840 made 12/1949

Spokane International #207
Spokane International / Union Pacific #1218
Tidewater Southern #746
Central California Traction #80

is not at the Willits, CA yard anymore. Any idea where it is gone? Or scrapped on location?

I'm pretty sure it just went next door to the Roots of Motive Power museum in Willits.

I appreciate your "pretty sure"... but you have proof?

For most people it is hard to believe -> there is NO track between ROMP and the NWP yard!

And a flying or trucked 240.000 lbs diesel would have bring some photographers?

Google Earth Pro clearly shows this locomotive in the yard where it sat for many years up until 8/2013. In the next aerial view on 8/2017 it was gone. It does not show up in any aerial view at Roots of Motive Power. Also, the Roots of Motive Power web site does not mention this locomotive as it does with their other diesels. I'm skeptical.

I checked with a friend who lives in Willits.

The unit was purchased from the late James Bruggere, its prior owner, several years ago.
It was not sold to Roots of Motive Power.

It was moved to Sage Spur in the Willits Redwood Company yard in Willits. It is still there.

Three years ago #80 came up on the Central California Traction closed facebook group, and there was this exchange:

"[redacted]
I thought it was owned by the Roots of Motive power?

[double redacted] yes it’s ours. Owned by Baldo Locomotive Works.

I don't want to post identifying information publicly, but if you want to know the name of the principal guy, pm me. I have no idea what Baldo Locomotive Works is.

Willits Redwood and Baldo Locomotive are owned by the same guys. I think they do restorations.
