While doing some carpentry work in my "yes it will be done someday dear" basement office, I was listening to the old 1929 Carter Family song "Engine 143" about the wreck of engineer George Alley on the C&O. I then ran across this photo and wonder if this 4-4-0 is indeed the same one involved in the wreck? Anyone know? http://community.webshots.com/photo/45956928/45958230gsRCnj ryarger@rypn.org |

Alley's engine that day was #134, but #143 has a better ryhme to it. Here are some links: http://www.geocities.com/robtmorca/c_o.html http://www.nortexinfo.net/McDaniel/1023.htm (scroll down) http://www.memorare.com/gleaner/archive4.html (this one has some very interesting rail items) > While doing some carpentry work in my > "yes it will be done someday dear" > basement office, I was listening to the old > 1929 Carter Family song "Engine > 143" about the wreck of engineer George > Alley on the C&O.
