P-N made the K-2/K-240 500 watt turbogenerators, very common on steam locomotives. There was also an E-series, which seems to have little information available in the usual sources (Loco Cycs, ICS books, etc.).

Does anyone have information about the E-series generators, and how they may have differed from the K-series?

Thanks,

Howard P.

We had a similar question a few years ago but some of the references there are no longer available from the link provided.

From what I can determine, the E-series may have been an older frame version. The E2 is about 13.5 x 22 x 13, and produced 32V at 2400rpm (with peak current of about 16A or 550W). There is an exploded view of its components, which may help in detail, at the Hagley Museum in Delaware.

There is also a very large (256 items in 4 boxes) collection of Pyle-National trade catalogs and information at the American History Museum (I believe this is one of the Smithsonian collections) but the finding air id almost worse than useless.
