The Steam Railroading Institute received a donation in the form of a SW1200 from Consumers Energy. The locomotive will be renumbered to 1115 used for switching & short excursions https://michigansteamtrain.com/consumer ... ocomotive/ |

Since it appeared the exact heritage of the loco was a mystery to them, I took a quick dive into my files....... I didn't find more on this SW1200, but I found it HAD replaced former Green Mountain/Rutland RS1 401, which had arrived at that plant in 1967. Oddly, sister RS1 402 is presently on the Coopersville & Marne Railway in Coopersville, Michigan--which back in February was the beneficiary of another Consumers Energy loco donation, a GE 125-tonner: https://www.consumersenergy.com/news-re ... ne-railway https://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids ... group.html |

Model #12-645-C Serial # 56F101 Date 4-9-02 EMD engine frame manufactured June (month "F") 1956, most likely as a 567C. Rebuilt in 2002 as a 645C, with 645 power assemblies replacing the 567 power assemblies. Howard P. |

I would be curious to see how similar it is to the SW1200 at Consumer's West Olive location. Both are obvious CN units. The one in West Olive was rebuilt with all new controls, prime mover and larger generator to work with the slug. I believe it also has remote. |
