A friend just sent me this so I figured I’d relay it. The final Conrail C39-8 in the US (allegedly) is for sale. It’s stablemate was scrapped a handful of years back, leaving this as the last one. It’s certainly a unique piece of railroading history and led to the successful GE C40-8 and 40-9 series, it’d be a shame if it met the torch. Figuring another unique Conrail bird is extinct (SD80MAC), the C39-8 shouldn’t be allowed to slip away as well. https://ozarkmountainrailcar.com/railEq ... temId=3773 |
