First let me say that I know almost nothing about trolley cars.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything at all about the trolley car in this picture.

The man who owns it said his late brother purchased it from the city of Dallas in the 1950Â’s. He used it as a storage shed at his farm since then.

Hey, that is a rare Winchester lever-action shotgun hanging on the wall! Gee, they didn't make those long at all. Don't know what the one above it is, but it looks like a side hammer shot gun of some type.

Wow, what a find! It looks like some sort of 1920's safety car. I don't have a Dallas roster handy, so I couldn't give you any more information. The car looks like it's in incredibly good shape, right down to the lack of body rot and the existence of ventilators. Save That Car!

The first digit of the car number is blocked, but it could be a 7. Dallas 700s were Peter Witts later modified to remove the center door.

It is a Peter Whitt you see...
I should know, I've got three.
About seven more down at the lake.
Go and save it, it's yours to take.

Looks like it might have had an interesting history. Do you think I'm nuts or might the cabinetwork be a railroad addition? I'm just guessing, but they seem to match the woodwork at the end of the car in paint, and that matches the trim around the windows. I suppose they could be additions of a more recent non-RR employee, but even the paint seems like a bit more effort than the other evidence would indicate has been expended on purely cosmetic stuff. Maybe served in MOW towards the end of its RR career? Looks great inside. Neat car. I'd like to see it on trucks.

Sincerely,
David Ackmerman
