Has anyone been to North Africa recently? Are the ONCF EMD GT26CW-2 DH350 and DH370 class units still active? ONCF still shows photos on the website. In 1974 they were delivered to replace Baldwins built in the late 1940s.

I've never been there, but a quick look at the "World Rail Gen" site on groups.io, which I'm a member of, seems to indicate that they are as some of the reports on there for last year quote running numbers in those series as being seen at various points, including hauling passenger trains.

Thanks very much for that information. I contacted a few people in the industry and it does appear possible that this entire group of EMD locomotives is functional and in operation fifty years after they were delivered.

Unfortunately I closed my LinkedIn account a few years ago. I see a listing there of Ahmed Marzouki as being in charge of Information Services at ONCF. He could probably advise the status of the locomotives. With a little luck he might be a relative of M. Marzouki, who was in charge of technical services at ONCF when they were delivered.

Adjacent Mauritania has similar locomotives (replacing some interesting French power) and has an order of SD70s.
