I really enjoyed the NCTM article. Perhaps I'm off the mark, but it seems the trolley museum guys really have their act together when comes to dinosaur trading. Perhaps tourist lines and railroad museums could learn a thing or two from their trolley counterparts. Thanks for the feedback on the article. A lot of the credit for successful dinosaur trading between trolley museums, at least in the East, should be given to Bill Wall at Shore Line Trolley Museum (Branford). He has been very helpful with a few trades for us at National Capital, and has the vision, patience and creativity to get the job done. Joe, I am compiling a list of trades, exchanges, sales etc for the traction preservation museums. I think thaat a lot has been possible because the weights are less than the railroad equipment. Yes electric equipment weighs in the tons range; but not like steam locomotives in the 75 to 100 ton range. You can move a trolley on the Interstate. Ted Miles ted_miles@nps.gov |
